What Time Does Tomorrow Start Here?
Choreography creation with the 2016 BA degree students of The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance (The Space) as part of their final degree performances.
The human race, ready set go...
Where is the finish line? we all run together alone, the race is on.
The grass is always greener on the other side but when your there (the other side) it’s too late to say, do or express, your time is up, tomorrow starts here.
Hung out to dry, airing our dirty laundry, we are all trash at the end of the day.
Do what you do and say what you say in the time you have and if life gives you lemons, find the gin.
Branded Commuter
Choreographed on the BA(hons) final year students of the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance (the Space)
Inspired by observations of the stereotypical “office worker” racing from their office still suited, wearing trainers to haste their way to the train station, briefcase firmly griped in hand. Where do they go? what do they do? From the chrysalis of the office and their functional drone existence's where do these butterflies transcend the everyday beyond their beige office function.
These commuters are saturated with consumerism that bombards and litters their urban landscape, it penetrates their subconsciousness as a passing pedestrian, branding them with their marketing and seductively suggesting an unascertainable lifestyle.

Stand On My Hand Shirley
Insights choreographic platform the Space venue 45 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
A nostalgic and totally rad recollection of growing up during the 80s, with the optimism, oppression and the effects of trying to hide the secrets of homespun truths. This piece puts on the brave face of a boy who didn't want to wear it.
Set to the backdrop of 80s music where the lyrics make light of a darker situation.

Planted, the Expiration of Memories Etched by Pure White Sand
This piece is a homage to and explores the life of my grandmother, both through the memories that I have witnessed and formed myself as well as the memories I have constructed from my recollection and visualisations of my grandmothers own memories.
“Implanted experiences of a time never lived, etched on the mind as memories, rendered in reality by imagination
and conceptual recollection” Aaron Jeffrey
Performed by 2nd year degree students at the Space (SSCD) in 2010.

When, The Past is Aways Present
This piece was created while I was a student at The Space SSCD.
The intention of this work was to formulate memories through researching the 2nd world war, through my understanding of what life would have been like, to create memories from a time that I had never experienced. Calling upon cultural references such as propaganda posters, weapons and life style during that period to re-construct a memory based on my understanding of the period, presenting a new narrative.

“Memory is central to a human being’s sense of identity and to his or her construction of the self. To construct their memory, individuals must employ imagination.” (Helena Kennedy)
